We are incredibly thrilled that three Cleveland girls missing for almost 10 years — Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight — have been found alive and well along with Amanda’s 6-year-old daughter. The women were discovered by chance by neighbor Charles Ramsey, who says he was just sitting down to enjoy some McDonald’s on his day off when he heard screaming and went to investigate.
Charles has had several interviews about his unintentionally heroic actions that freed the girls on Monday, and if this guy isn’t already an actor, he sure knows how to put on a show! Charles understands that the facts are straight and simple, so he throws in some of his own opinion to spice things up a bit.
Here are the straight facts about Charles’s impromptu rescue mission, according to his interview with WEWSTV: Charles heard screaming as he sat in his Cleveland home, and when he went out to the house’s porch to investigate, the girl screaming says, “Help me get out, I’ve been in here a long time.” Charles says he figured it was a “domestic violence dispute,” and wanted to help the girl out by opening the door. Once Charles realized the door only opens enough for a hand to get through, the pair kicked at the bottom of the door to create an opening. She eventually came out, Charles says, holding a little girl, and asked him to call 911. “My name is Amanda Berry,” she said.
Once Amanda was out and the 911 call was put in, the police arrived within a matter of minutes and rescued Amanda and the other three girls in the house.
Once the facts were out of the way, Charles discussed the neighbor whose house the girls were found in, expressing his incredibly animated shock at what this horrible guy did.
“You gotta have some big testicles, bro, to pull this off, because we see this guy every day,” Charles said.
“I’ve been here a year,” Charles continued. “You see where I’m coming from? I barbeque with this dude! We eat ribs and whatnot, and listen to salsa music!”
And perhaps the biggest one-liner to come out of the entire interview is this gem: “Bro, I knew something was wrong when a pretty little white girl ran into a black man’s arms. Somethin’ is wrong here. Dead giveaway. Deaaad giveaway. Either she’s homeless or she got problems. That’s the only reason why she’s runnin’ to a black man.”
Needless to say, the internet is having a heyday with Charles, erecting memes, GIFs, and of course, the coveted auto-tune interview. Here are a few of our favorites from around the web.
