Nothing spells P-A-R-T-Y like creepy, crawly creatures, right? Ok, yuck for us — but for our bug-obsessed kids, it’s the perfect party theme! If the idea of spending hours in the kitchen totally bugs you out, try some of these delicious insect-inspired — not to mention budget-friendly! — party foods that can be made in a snap.
Bug Wrap Apps
Hummus, ham, spinach, and flatbread come together to form these fun appetizers. Made up of healthy ingredients, you can feel good about serving them to little ones.
Worms in Dirt
We’ve got worms! Don’t worry — they’re sugary and possibly addictive, but not squirmy. In this yummy-looking Dirt Trifle, gummy candies sit atop layers of chocolate pudding, Cool Whip, and crumbled chocolate cake (a.k.a. “dirt”). The kids love it because it looks gross — and we love it because, hello, chocolate!
Ants on a Log
The only time we’re ok with having ants in the house is when raisins, peanut butter, and celery are involved. Ants on a Log is a classic for good reason: The kids go crazy for it, and it’s super easy to prepare. Win win!
Proving that some bugs are adorable, these ladybug appetizers use crackers, tomatoes, and olives — making them yummy and healthy. Although you might not want to share that part with the kids.
We can’t have an insect-inspired bash without a buggy toast! The summer camp staple Bug Juice is a perfect way for our own little buggers to wash down their party food.
