It’s a very happy day for Shannon Miller!

After battling ovarian cancer, the seven-time Olympic medalist announced today that she is expecting her second child with husband John Falconetti.

“Things were going fantastic with the launch of my company, Shannon Miller Lifestyle, my foundation was growing and we hoped our family would expand as well,” Shannon announced in a press release on her website. “Then my world stopped. Instead of calling my parents to tell them they had another grandchild on the way, I was calling to tell them I may have cancer. Our baby plans were put on hold indefinitely.”

Following her diagnosis, the 35-year-old former gymnastics star had a surgery to remove her left ovary and the malignant tumor. She also underwent 9 weeks of chemotherapy.

Two years later, and Shannon is cancer-free and expecting a “miracle” baby!

She says, “I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to do some amazing things in my life, but being a mom is second to none.”

The new baby will join Shannon and John’s first child, a 3-year-old son named Rocco.
