Perhaps it all began with that trapeze class we signed up for. Or maybe it was that spur-of-the-moment leather bomber jacket we bought. Either way, we’re feeling a bit daring as the temps start to dip. It seems that our devil-may-care attitude has slipped its way into cocktail hour, too. The usual imbibable suspects — red wine, a vodka cran, mojitos (skinny, obvi) — just won’t cut it anymore. What to do? We’ve got some must-try fall cocktails that will definitely shake things up in the drink department.
Dark & Stormy
Combine ginger beer, ginger puree, lime juice, and some good ‘ol rum and you’ve got yourself a spicy fall treat. We’re partial to Rachael Ray’s recipe.
Smoky Mt. Rye
This concoction, courtesy of Chicago’s The Florentine restaurant, mixes Bulleit Rye, blood orange bitters, honey, and lemon juice. Pucker-licious! Head to Refinery 29 for the recipe.
Honeycrisp Apple Sangria

About.com says this cocktail is “perfect for the hunting woman.” (Yes, that made us LOL too.) Okay, so we haven’t been scurrying through the woods all day, but we think this drink would be just the thing after a day running after the kiddos. Mmm... we’re down with anything incorporating blackberry jam! In addition to the sweet stuff, this drink features Hennessy Black, Stirrings Ginger Liqueur, Chambord, and a smidgen of cayenne.

Caramel Apple Cocktails
