Among millions of dollars worth of gowns and accessories on the red carpet last night, one Oscar-nominated actress chose to keep her cool — and her budget in tact. In a shocking move — at least for fashionistas around the globe — Sessions star Helen Hunt picked a navy blue, strapless gown with a flowing train by H&M.
This just may be first time the label had been worn by a nominated star, but this wasn’t a random pick. Despite the rich navy color, the dress is actually “green” — as in, it comes from H&M’s eco-friendly Conscious collection. According to Yahoo Lifestyle, the gown retails for $80.
“We all need to raise our voice in support of action on climate change and solutions like increased use of solar power, more energy efficient buildings and higher mileage cars,” Helen told The Hollywood Reporter.
Although the dress could have used a little de-wrinkling before hitting the red carpet, Helen did perfectly accentuate the awards-ceremony appropriate style with $700,000 worth of jewelry. Talk about mixing affordable and exorbitant fashion!
