Between the shopping, the cooking, and the travelling, it’s easy to forget that the holidays are actually a really romantic time of year. There’s singing, twinkling lights, and lots of snuggling. Sure, it’s all about family, but let’s not forget to make quality time with the one who helped you make your family!

Finding ways to reconnect during the holidays is so important — and wrapping presents doesn’t count! — so we’ve come up with some ways to fan the flame of that holiday spark. Check out three ideas for how to get romantical during the holidays.

1. Ice Skating
Outdoor ice skating has to be one of the most romantic holiday dating traditions we can think of — holding hands, cuddling up, and burning calories? Look for your local outdoor rink and be sure to schedule it for a clear night to ensure lots of snuggly stargazing.

2. Looking at Christmas Lights
The trick to this one being romantic is to not stroll your own neighborhood — go somewhere new! Do some research online and find out which area has the killer light displays (come on, every town has one). Get out and explore! Bonus if you end up making snow angels.

3. Go See a Christmas Classic
The Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol, even Elf — any live production is the perfect excuse to don some of your classiest clothes and head downtown for the night!. Dinner and a horse-drawn carriage ride to the theater is about as adorably romantic as a holiday date can possibly be.
