Imagine giving away your engagement ring — by mistake! That’s exactly what happened to do-gooder Sarah Darling last week, when she kindly donated money from her change purse to a homeless man on the street, according to a report from Kansas City’s KCTV News.

The next morning, Sarah noticed with horror that she had accidentally dropped her platinum and diamond engagement ring into the cup and returned to the scene, desperately hoping to find the man again. Apparently, because Sarah’s ring bothers her, she sometimes puts it in her coin purse. A huge no-no for any jewelry lover, but regardless, Sarah found the man and he graciously returned her ring.

KCTV News caught up with the man, Billy Ray Harris, and asked him why he didn’t take off with the diamond sparkler when he had the chance. “My grandfather was a reverend. He raised me from the time I was 6 months old and thank the good Lord, it’s a blessing, but I do still have some character,” he said.
Billy Ray, you’ve got some good karma coming your way!
