Entertainment reporter Sam Rubin normally wouldn’t fly to New York to conduct an interview, but when he told his daughter, 17-year-old Perry, about his chance to get some face time with Ryan Gosling, she laid down the law. Sam told KTLA, “She said, ‘Dad, I will die if you do not go!’”
So like any good father, Sam hightailed it to a press junket for Ryan’s new film, The Place Beyond the Pines, and turned on the charm. The reporter started out by saying that although he never asks celebrities that he encounters in his profession for autographs or pictures because “it’s cheesy,” getting Ryan’s would basically solidify his position in the Father Hall of Fame.
Fortunately, Sam did his homework — no doubt under the tutelage of his teenage daughter — and brought along Perry’s copy of Ryan’s 2009 obscure indie rock album Dead Man’s Bones for The Notebook star to sign.
Sam also dropped a little Gosling trivia on the actor, saying he had heard (from his daughter, of course) that Ryan wanted to remake the Hollywood classic film Roman Holiday. Needless to say, Ryan was flattered enough to indulge the dad-daughter team by signing the record album, “Perry, We have to stop meeting this way.”
Sam, do you have any openings for some adopted kids? We’d love a little memento from Ryan too — maybe a photo of those fab abs?
