When it comes to parenting, you can plan and plan but, inevitably, life takes over and you have to roll with it. New mom Jenna Bush Hager found that out right out of the gates. The TODAY correspondent and former first daughter’s water broke in the middle of her baby shower. She called into the show the other day to explain.
“I kind of started sweating, which I guess is a normal thing, but then, all of a sudden, in front of all of my friends, my water broke,” Jenna joked. “It was like a romantic comedy.”
Margaret Laura “Mila” Hager was born on April 13, three weeks earlier than expected. She weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and is already changing the way Jenna sees things. The usual clean freak has learned that kids create quite a mess but, not only has she accepted it, she loves it.
“I like things to be really neat, and there’s bottles and things all over, and we’re just as happy as can be.”
Their New York apartment is swathed in pink, which Jenna admits she doesn’t even really like, but she’s more focused on her sweet bundle of joy. “I’ve learned that you can love somebody in a totally different way,” she said.
