A Norwegian teacher from the town of Sola made a very bad choice for snack time for her class — very bloody bad.
Inger Lise Andersen, Director of the Dravhaug kindergarten, told Reuters that an unnamed teacher returned to school following an appointment with her doctor where she had blood drawn with a vial of her own brand, so to speak, for her class to touch and — yes — taste.
For some reason, the teacher believed that her young students would be interested in seeing her blood, so she passed it around on a plate to each child. “The children asked if they could touch it and she allowed them. Then they asked ‘how do we get it off?’ so she put her finger in her mouth and the children followed suit,” said Inger.
“The parents are mortified, shaken, and shocked,” says Inger. Who can blame them? It’s shocking to learn that a teacher used such poor judgment. It’s even more terrifying that an adult didn’t think to consider the potentially fatal health risks she was exposing her students to.
For now, the school has sent the blood off to be tested for HIV/AIDS and other diseases, and the teacher has been terminated. We cross our fingers for all of the students and their families that the blood comes back clean!
