Although Nicole Richie and husband Joel Madden have tattoos themselves, the mom of two once confessed, “I’m just hoping that my kids will be so embarrassed of them [our tattoos] that they’re not going to have any. It happens!”
If Nicole’s theory is right, then Marcus ‘The Creature’ Boykin has definitely figured out how to keep his daughter from tattooing and piercing up her body too — by having so many of his own!
The Creature, 29, who stars on the AMC reality series Freakshow, is a tattoo artist and body piercer who uses his own body as a canvas. According to the reality star, making extreme body modifications is his calling. “Without feeling the needle feels like I’m losing my purpose in life,” he says in a promo video for the reality series.
The Creature, who performs at the Venice Beach Freakshow, independently adds a new mark everyday. “My body will never be done. This is my story. I’m still living so my story cannot be done.”
Despite how kind he comes off on the show, it is hard for people to see his big heart through his body art. The Creature explains, “Because of this dedication, the average person draws themselves away from me or grabs their kids in fear of you.”
He explains to his boss, Todd Ray in a promo for Freakshow, that even his own daughter is scared by the way he looks. “Knowing that I have a daughter who is 5 years old — her name is Mia — it’s a hard thing to deal with. It’s a hard road.” He goes on to say that in the very few times that he’s actually seen Mia, “she was scared.”
He feels that Mia’s mom, his ex, is very uncomfortable with the way he looks. “She’s known me from the beginning, but since I’ve made the transformation, it’s still something that was hard for her to deal with.”
He does have a 2-year-old son with another woman who isn’t at all bothered by his body art. “He’s not scared of me. He loves me,” says The Creature.
