When the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, will your guests be out the door, or way too wowed by your party to leave before dawn? Here are some great themes for NYE that will have them coming back to party again next year!

Go to Prom
Go back to high school with a New Year’s Prom, like actress and DWTS finalist Chelsea Kane did last year. Get everyone to dress like they did at their own prom — and get ready to party like it’s 199-whatever.

Game On!
Instead of the same old stand-around cocktail party, engage your guests in old school board games or activities like charades, Taboo, or Pictionary. The more cocktails, the more competitive party people will get, but that’s half the fun!

The Stars Come Out
Host an old Hollywood Night of the Stars, like a reader at Hostess With the Mostess did. Invite partygoers to dress up as their favorite old-timey movie stars and literally roll out a red carpet party entrance. Pick black and white art deco decorations, and keep the champagne tower bubbling over long after the clock strikes midnight.

NYE in NYC
Host a NYE NYC party that never sleeps. It’s all the fun of being in Times Square — minus freezing your butt off. Order New York-style pizzas, serve Manhattans, and throw the Rockin’ New Year’s on TV for background screen scenery while you rock out to Sinatra’s New York, New York and Jay-Z’s Empire State of Mind.

Dial M for Murder
Remember Clue? The board game/turned movie/turned ‘80s party craze is back! Host a killer murder mystery party that will leave guests wondering who did it.
