Let’s face it, Kate Middleton is no Kim Kardashian. While others bare their baby bumps, the royal mother-to-be keeps her maternity fashion sense tame with stylish coats that mostly hide her baby bump, skirts or dresses, and tasteful heels.
But a recent appearance has people talking. On April 4 at an appearance in Scotland, the Duchess was seen hiding her bump under a Moloh tartan coat, while showing off her legs in black tights and boots. So what’s the big deal? Kate is being called out for her hemline.
A commenter on a post on Celebitchy.com about Kate’s outfit called it, “Completely inappropriate and a slap in the face to Her Majesty.” Another commenter wrote, “Taste varies, and I don’t mean to be argumentative, but a coat that short is supposed to convey propriety?
For a member of the royal family? Dunno, guess I’m just really old-fashioned.” Others came to Kate’s defense, as one reader wrote, “I think she looks cute, the coat is a wee bit too short but she looks good.”
Most of us don’t have designer maternity fashion at our disposal, so it’s pretty easy to project how we would dress if we had the same resources as the royals do. But Duchess Kate is the only one who has to walk a mile in those black boots, and we say let her have a rest.
By the way, we think she looks incredibly appropriate, chic, and festive in her tartan coat and boots combo. If anybody can wear make this look work while pregnant, it’s Kate!
So you tell us: What do you think of Kate’s look?
