Eating out at a restaurant with kids can be stressful. Will the kids act out? Will they scream when they realize there’s nothing on the menu that resembles a chicken nugget? What if the iPad runs out of juice…and so on, and so on.
But one restaurant has made the Internet take notice by giving one family a “well behaved kids” discount — and the parent who got the bill was so proud, they actually posted a photo of the receipt online.
Reddit user farthoven’s receipt for dinner was $58.64, which included the subtotal, tax, and a $4 discount for the kids’ wonderful behavior. Now, of course, we don’t know what the good behavior included. Was it simply a matter of no broken dinnerware, or public temper tantrums, or were the children so silent during the meal that other patrons barely noticed them?
Whatever the case, we totally get this parent’s pride and appreciate the restaurant rewarding them. It’s not often that a meal outside of the home ends in praise. More often than not, it ends in tears — ours, not the kids’ — so $4 off had to be a great surprise.
So what do you think? Is the “well behaved kids” discount a great idea or a bad idea?
