According to WFSB-TV, a Connecticut school board met recently to decide whether to adopt measures to help students focus better in school. Their idea? A ban on skinny jeans and leggings.
It seems the board members would like to introduce a new dress code which would prohibit students from wearing any tight fitting or revealing clothing. Board members said these clothing items are a distraction to students.
The proposed ban would include leotards, leggings, skinny jeans, and revealing and form-fitting materials such as spandex.
According to Patch.com, a local union representative and teacher said it will be too much work to police students, and that the policy change would instill an “us versus them” mentality that most teachers would like to avoid.
The board will vote on whether to adopt the changes in April.
