Three more suspects have been arrested today in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing, although the Boston Police Department said on its website that “there is no threat to public safety.”
According to NBC News, the three students were friends of Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and are being charged with obstruction of justice after they allegedly moved items from Dzhokhar’s dorm room after the attack.
Although further details of the arrests are currently unavailable, CNN did speak with prominent defense attorney and Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, who said, “If they knew about the bombing, if they were involved in the bombing, the charges would be conspiracy to do the acts for which the other man has already been charged. So it sounds like at this point in time the only evidence they have is actions that took place after the bombing."
The news outlet also reported that two of the three students, who are all originally from Kazakhstan, were already being held on immigration charges, and the third is an American citizen.
