We don’t know about you, but something we often think about when flying is, “How can I score with that foxy guy in First Class? If only I could send him a drink.” But we’re in luck! In what might be one of the most lecherous marketing strategies ever, those wishes have come true.
Virgin America is launching something they call “Seat-to-Seat Delivery” for their L.A. to Las Vegas flights. We’re just going to call it “super creepy.” Using this new service, you can now hit on your fellow travelers by buying them an unsolicited drink, meal, or snack through the in-flight entertainment system.
According to the video narrated by Richard Branson, Virgin CEO and top contender for the title of company president with the most leonine-like mane, “I'm not a betting man, but I'd say your chance of deplaning with a plus-one are at least 50%." Okaaaay. And what if all we want to do is stick in our headphones, thumb through Vogue, and not talk to anyone — least of all creepy men sending us drinks?
Virgin is also running a Facebook contest, asking fans to share “how you would press your luck at 35,000 feet.” Ew, what does that even mean? The possibilities are endless, and that’s how your flight will seem when some creepy dude is sending you martinis while you pretend to sleep for your entire flight.
We’re not sure who would be the ideal customer for this service, but we’re pretty sure we don’t want to find out!
