Mariah has an awesome dad! When she couldn’t find the kind of dress that she wanted to wear to her junior prom, her dad, David Herron of Marshfield of Wisconsin, stepped in to help out, DIY-style.

While their choice of camo print fabric might seem to some to be a bit offbeat, father and daughter felt it really expressed Mariah’s love of the great outdoors. In this endearing video, Mariah’s dad explains how they went together to pick out the fabric, the lace and tulle trim, and decided on the somewhat, shall we say, unusual shotgun shell accents.

Although you would think the end result would be super tacky, or at least pretty over-the-top, the dress is actually very subtle, and quite flattering. In fact, you need to look pretty hard to even realize it’s a camouflage print.

Mariah’s decision to pair to the dress with distressed leather cowboy boots seems like the perfect accessory choice to dance the night away.

Way to go, Mariah’s dad. We can’t wait to see what runway-worthy creation you’ll whip up for senior prom!
