Ruby Digs in to Her Birthday Cake
Wetpaint Moms is thrilled to welcome our friend Jen Stagg of withHEART, who's taking us inside the adorable birthday party she threw for her 1-year-old daughter Ruby! Take it away, Jen...
I had the idea for this party in my head for months — beautiful buntings and lanterns strewn across my backyard, with a brunch celebration in the sunshine. And then it rained. It is spring, after all! So, we were forced to move the party indoors at last minute. You've got to be flexible with a spring birthday!
Something about buntings just says birthday to me. I love that they represent a happy celebration, and that's exactly what I wanted. I found buntings online through a darling Etsy shop called Good Will Bunting by Heidi Adnum and I found a few more at my local Zurchers.
Food was simple and hit the spot — a pancake bar with different syrups, toppings, and of course, fresh whipped cream. I loved seeing everyone's different creations. Fruit and yogurt parfaits, fresh strawberries and cream, chocolate milk and juice rounded it out, and we ended the meal with mini cupcakes and a mini cake just for the birthday girl herself.
It was truly a perfect celebration, and if I learned anything with this party, it's that you can try to plan for everything, but in the end, there are some things you can't predict. Relax and enjoy — that's what parties are all about!
