UPDATE: The royal baby has arrived! Kate Middleton gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 4:24 p.m., according to Clarence House. Both mother and baby are doing well, and will be staying in St. Mary's Hospital in London overnight.
When is Kate Middleton due? E!’s sources originally set a July 14 due date, and the Daily Mail’s sources reported July 13. But babies don’t stick to rigid schedules, and so his littlest highness arrived about a week late on July 22!
How will the birth be announced? It’s a complicated process! First, the declaration of birth will be printed and signed by staff at St. Mary's Hospital. Then it will be escorted by police to Buckingham Palace, hastily framed, and then displayed just behind the Palace gates, propped up on a wood-and-gold easel. The certificate will bear the future king's time of birth and weight. The name, however, will come later.
Is Kate Middleton having a boy or a girl? William and Kate did not reveal the sex of their child until the birth of their baby boy was announced. Some sources predicted Kate may have accidentally spilled the beans during a visit to the National Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby on March 5. While accepting a teddy bear from a woman in the crowd, Kate said, “Thank you, I’ll take that for my d—.” When an onlooker asked if she was about to say “daughter,” Kate smiled and said, “We’re not telling.” Way to keep us off your trail, Kate!
What will the baby’s name be? We don’t know yet, but Wetpaint Moms will keep you posted!
How much is the Royal Baby worth? We’re not sure about private sector worth, but the little bundle of joy is expected to bring in about $380 million to the British economy. Talk about a stimulus package!
