Tori Spelling (full name: Victoria Davey Spelling) is an actress and author who has appeared in both film and television. She has written four books, designs a clothing and jewelry line, and is a mother to four kids. Tori Spelling’s husband, Dean McDermott, is also an actor, and their family lives in Los Angeles, where their lives are captured on the Oxygen reality show, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. Tori Spelling’s ex-husband, her first husband, is writer/actor Charlie Shanian.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott clearly love to live life in the spotlight. Between their reality show and constant updates on Twitter (you can find Tori on Twitter @torianddean) and Instagram, the stars both really seem to enjoy sharing their lives with their fans.

Tori Spelling was born May 16, 1973 to Hollywood royalty. Her father, Aaron Spelling, produced such hit shows as Charlie’s Angels, Fantasy Island, and Dynasty. Her mother Candy Spelling threw lavish parties in the 1980s in their huge Beverly Hills mansion  (incidentally, it’s the largest single-family dwelling in the state of California; the house has more than 100 rooms, including a bowling alley).

The Early Years

Tori started acting at age 6. Her father encouraged her with acting lessons, and by helping her land small parts on his shows The Love Boat and T. J. Hooker.

At 16,  Tori first attended Beverly Hills High School, but decided to make a move to the Westlake School for Girls after getting a nose job (she claims — we are not kidding — that a parrot bit her). She auditioned for the part of Kelly Taylor on her Dad’s new show, Beverly Hills, 90210, under the pseudonym “Tori Mitchell.” She didn’t get that part, but was cast instead as Donna Martin.

Beverly Hills, 90210 premiered around the time Tori graduated from high school, and was, of course, hugely popular. Tori appeared during the entire span of the show — which ran for over ten years.

During this time, Tori also appeared in several made-for-TV movies, as well as a few big screen hits, including the independent film The House of Yes (1997) and the blockbuster Scream 2 (1997).

Marriage, Part One

Tori made her stage debut in 2002 in Maybe Baby, It's You at the Coronet Theater in L.A. She began dating the play's co-writer, Charlie Shanian, and they married two years later.

While filming the TV movie Mind Over Murder, Spelling fell in love with her co-star, Dean McDermott. The actor, who already had two children with his wife of twelve years, filed for divorce in September 2005. Spelling broke up with Shanian soon after. McDermott proposed to Spelling four months later.

Reality TV Stardom

2006 brought many changes to Tori’s life, not all of them welcome. She began producing a new sitcom for VH1, So NoTORIous, in which she starred as a fictional version of herself. She also married Dean in Fiji that May. Several months later, however, Spelling’s father suffered a serious stroke.

During a highly publicized feud, Tori and her mother Candy were estranged as her father's health declined. On June 23, 2006, Tori's father died. According to Tori, she was told of her father's death via e-mail.

Tori and Dean used Spelling's inheritance to set up a bed and breakfast in Fallbrook, California, and created a reality show, Tori & Dean: Inn Love, that chronicled their experience. The next year, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Liam. The show became a hit.

By June 2008, Tori and Dean's show was in its third season under the new name Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.

The husband and wife continue to produce and star in their successful show, and have expanded their family. In June of 2008, Tori gave birth to daughter Stella. In October 2011, she welcomed daughter Hattie, and, after a somewhat complicated and well-documented pregnancy, was joined by son Finn Davey in August 2012.

Tori made a cameo appearance as Donna Martin on the remake of the show that made her famous, entitled 90210. She designs and markets her own line of fashion jewelry on HSN, and created a line of children’s clothing called Little Maven.

She also continues to write books. Her second book, Mommywood, was released in April 2009, her third book, CelbraTORI, is about home entertaining and came out in March, 2013.

Early 2013 also brought some drama for Tori, in the form of a swirl of divorce rumors. Tori set the record straight with People Magazine in March, saying, “There will be no divorce.”
