Mona Scott Young Responds to Lawsuit: “The Truth Shall Prevail” (VIDEO)

Love & Hip Hop creator and executive producer Mona Scott Young is reportedly being dragged into the middle of a $50 million lawsuit that alleges Mona (along with Viacom and VH1) stole the idea of Love & Hip Hop from 8th Wonder Entertainment, Trisha Lum, and Nickie Lum-Davis’s Hip Hop Wives. While on the RapFix Live with host Sway, Mona spoke a little about the lawsuit, saying “the truth shall prevail.”

“The one thing I will say is I read about it on the blogs like everyone else did, so the only one they served was TMZ and Bossip. I haven’t been served anything,” Mona told Sway, adding, “I will have to assume there’s some basis to it because these are all legal looking documents.”

Mona also went on to question the motives behind the 8th Wonder Entertainment lawsuit — especially since Love & Hip Hop has been on the air for several seasons, and has added two franchises to its name.

“The show’s been on for six years, I just have to wonder did they just wake up one morning and say, ‘Hey I just remembered I did that show and she stole it from me,’” she said.

Mona also argued that “you can’t create a reality show, it’s reality,” and mentioned that she’s no stranger to the subject matter of the shows, having been in the music industry for 20-plus years.

While Mona said she couldn’t disclose any other details about the case, she said she would definitely talk more about it once it’s all over. She noted that she just wants “everyone to use a little common sense when processing the information.”

Sounds to us like Mona’s got this whole situation under control!
