Morena Baccarin Says She was Prepared to Sit Through Labor at the Emmys
The positively radiant Morena Baccarin was definitely a huge (no pun intended) focus at last night’s Emmy Awards. The actress, who is due to pop any minute now with her first child, didn’t let her growing belly stop her from attending TV’s biggest night with her nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as conflicted wife Jessica Brody on Homeland.
Morena wore a jaw-dropping red gown with a sweetheart neckline and a beautiful jeweled waist detail that sat front and center on her burgeoning belly. The Homeland actress looked totally calm, cool, and collected throughout the whole show. There was (thankfully) no need for a mad dash to the hospital from any labor pains, although Morena says she was prepared for it.
“I told myself that I was going to go, and if I went into labor at the Emmys, I was going to sit through it,” Morena toldHollywood Life. “I mean, no baby comes in four-and-a-half hours anyway, or maybe it’s like 12 hours. I don’t know how long the Emmys are.”
She also mentioned to People that her husband, Austin Chick, was by her side that night with all the essentials a pregnant woman could want. “I’m going to have my husband tote flip-flops and definitely PowerBars or granola bars — whatever it takes to get me through the night — and water. [That's] what they’re there for,” Baccarin jokes.
We were so happy to hear that Morena was nominated, even thoughAnna Gun took home the statue for her role as Walter White’s wife in Breaking Bad. It seemed that show swept up all the Emmys this year while last year was Homeland’s territory. We hope it will make a comeback in 2014, though, because we want this win for Morena almost as badly as she does!
