Emily Maynard Mourns the Loss of Her Cat, Holly Bear

Poor Emily Maynard has had a pretty rough few months where pets are concerned. The recently engaged Season 8 Bachelorette posted on February 10 about the loss of her beautiful kitty, Holly Bear Hendrick, and our hearts definitely go out to her.

Emily remembered her beautiful white kitty on her blog, EmilyMaynard.com, today, though the site is usually reserved for more frothy entries, often about beauty products. “Holly, my beautiful white cat with the brightest blue eyes you've ever seen, has won over the hearts of every anti-cat person that has walked through my door. Many people said she reminded them of a dog because of her playfulness, love for chasing water in the bathtub, and drinking out of the toilet,” Em wrote of her kitty.

She says she could count on her “to sit at the kitchen table with me every morning while I did my reading and be there on my pillow every night as we fell asleep. Holly and [other cat] Safari both have been there for me during some of my lowest lows and highest highs, and love me despite them all.” (Cue our not-first bout of ugly-crying about her loss.) Doubtless, Emily’s “lowest lows” refers to her breakup with Season 15 Bachelor Brad Womack, and her second with Season 8 Bachelorette winner Jef Holm.

Back in October, her puppy, Pixie — a gift for daughter Ricki’s birthday — had a seizure, which Emily revealed to her Twitter family, asking for prayers at the time. Then, on December 18, her other dog, Knox, ran away, but was later returned by helpful friends and neighbors who found the dog unharmed.

We truly hope that Emily and Ricki are doing OK in this tough time. RIP sweet Holly Bear.
