Beloved Mickey Mouse Club star Annette Funicello died Monday, April 8 at age 70.
Her family told Extra she died from complications due to multiple sclerosis. She revealed she had MS in 1992, and Extra said she'd been in an MS coma for years.
She was arguably the most popular "Mouseketeer" of the original club, as well as a pop star and an actress who starred in the Beach Party movies with Frankie Avalon in the 1960s. (When the Mickey Mouse Club was revived, new 1990s Mouseketeers included Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Ryan Gosling.)
Annette's daughter, Gina Gilardi, told Extra in a statement, "She's on her toes dancing in heaven... no more MS. My brothers and I were there, holding her sweet hands when she left us."
