We know actress Gal Gadot is fast and furious, but is she superhero material? We’re about to find out! The 28-year-old beauty has been cast to play Diana Prince — aka Wonder Woman — in director Zack Snyder's upcoming Man of Steel follow-up, Batman vs. Superman, Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed Wednesday, December 4. Gal will join Henry Cavill (Superman) and Ben Affleck (Batman) in the highly anticipated film.
If you aren’t familiar with Gal, you aren’t alone. She’s best known for her Gisele Harrabo in Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and most recently, Fast & Furious 6, but outside of the realm of fast cars and sexy street racing action, Gal is relatively unknown. So Wetpaint Entertainment decided to use our Lasso of Truth and do a little digging. Here are five things you need to know about the future Wonder Woman.
She was born in Israel. Gal Gadot was born on April 30, 1985 in Rosh Ha'ayin, Israel. She’s proud of her Israeli heritage, telling TotallyJewish.com back in 2011: “ I was brought up in a very Jewish, Israeli family environment, so of course my heritage is very important to me. I want people to have a good impression of Israel. I don't feel like I'm an ambassador for my country, but I do talk about Israel a lot — I enjoy telling people about where I come from and my religion.”
She’s a beauty queen! There’s no question Gal is gorgeous, but did you know she was crowned Miss Israel in 2004? The model-turned-actress then went on to represent Israel at the 2004 Miss Universe beauty pageant. She didn’t take home the top prize, but she made her country proud. She’ll be trading in her swimsuit for Wonder Woman’s iconic red, blue, and gold leotard, and we’re pretty sure this former beauty queen is going to look smashing!
She served two years in the military. From beauty queen to military babe, Gal isn't afraid of a little hand-to-hand combat. She’s going to need that edge when she’s taking down baddies on the big screen. Gal served two years in the Israel Defense Forces at a sports trainer. Shortly after she finished up her service, she auditioned for Fast & Furious.
She’s a wife and mother. Wonder Woman isn’t just a fierce Demigod fighting for truth and justice, she’s also compassionate and nurturing. It turns out Gal should have no problem stepping into those shoes, as the 28-year-old is not only a wife, but also a mother! She and her husband Yaron Versano (married in 2008) welcomed their first child, a daughter named Alma, in November 2011.
She rides motorcycles. Gal owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R. As if we didn’t already think Gal was a total badass, she rides motorcycles too? It’s like she was born to play Diana Prince! Is there anything this superheroine can’t do?
