Sloane Peterson, Ferris Bueller's girlfriend in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, is still a fashion idol! After all, only three people we know of can pull off a fringe jacket like the one Sloane wore in the film: Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, and the actress behind Sloane, Mia Sara.

Mia gained brief fame in the mid-’80s for her role in Ridley Scott's Legend, and subsequently, the John Hughes classic Ferris Bueller. She found some success throughout the '90s, too, most notably in Timecop. But what is she up to now?

While Mia will tell anyone who asks that she's "retired," she still does acting work occasionally — just mostly indie and family projects. Her main gig right now, though, is being a poet and a mom.

Mia is married to Jim Henson's son Brian Henson. Living with the couple in Los Angeles are Mia's two children, a tweenage daughter and a teenage son, from her previous marriage to Sean Connery's son, Jason Connery. These kids have some high-profile grandpas!

While it might seem really cool to have your mom be the lady in Ferris Bueller, Mia says that they think it's so embarrassing. "There was this year that every one of my son's friends saw [Ferris Bueller], and it was horrifying for him," she told Yahoo, "and now it's happening with my daughter! [...] They think it's really embarrassing."

To "stave off insanity," Mia has started actively writing and publishing poetry. You can read her work in PANK, Cultural Weekly, and more — as well as her Tumblr account.
