He may have played a mega-rich, coke-obsessed Wall Street scoundrel in The Wolf of Wall Street, but that doesn’t mean Jonah Hill got paid the big bucks to star as Donnie Azoff in the Oscar-nominated blockbuster. In fact, Jonah took a major salary cut to star as Jordan Belfort’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) sidekick.

But just how much did the 30-year-old actor earn to star in the 3-hour, F-word spewing film? Jonah appeared on Tuesday’s The Stern Show to let Howard in on the shocking figure.

“Now on H100 @jonahhill tells @howardstern that he did the 7 month ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ shoot for $60,000 because he wanted the role so bad,” The Stern Show tweeted. Wowza, we didn’t expect his pay to be that low! But clearly it worked out for Jonah, as he garnered a nom for both the 2014 Golden Globes and the 2014 Oscars. Not too shabby.

Jonah last received a positive response from critics for his role as baseball manager Peter Brand in 2012’s Moneyball alongside Brad Pitt. He’s definitely on a roll and seems to have an eye for Academy Award-worthy roles — and is willing to work on the cheap to be in them. Kudos, Jonah!
