In preparation for the Oscars in just under a month, Vanity Fair has hit the stands with its 20th Annual Hollywood Issue. Not surprisingly, the star-studded cover features many of the distinguished actors up for the awards, as well as a few lesser-known faces that are soon to become household names.
The first fold of the cover, shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, pictures Chiwetel Ejiofor (nominated for 12 Years a Slave), Julia Roberts (August: Osage County), Idris Elba, and George Clooney. The 46-year-old actress looks stunning in a tailored blazer and fishnet stockings as she sits on Idris’s lap.
Also featured inside the fold are Michael B. Jordan, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyer’s Club), Naomie Harris, Brie Larson, Chadwick Boseman, Margot Robbie, and Léa Seydoux.
Of course, after slaying every red carpet she’s walked this year, it’s no surprise that nominee Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) is at the center of the shoot. The 30-year-old actress seems to be channeling an Oscar statue in a shimmering gold gown that’s practically painted on her body.
This year’s issue is certainly different from the last, which focused on a younger set of female stars. The 2013 cover featured Jennifer Lawrence, Shailene Woodley, Rooney Mara, Elizabeth Olsen, Mia Wasikowska, and more.
What do you think of this year’s Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue? Are you surprised by who they chose?
