The upcoming heist movie Triple Nine is making off with one of Hollywood's most impressive lineups of actors.
Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Kate Winslet (Labor Day), and Casey Affleck (Out of the Furnace) had already joined the cast — and now Deadline reports that Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), Gal Gadot (Batman vs. Superman), and Michael Pena (American Hustle) have also signed on to star in the film.
Deadline also shared the film's synopsis: "A crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a '999,' police code for 'officer down.' Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed, and revenge."
The 2015 release will be directed by John Hillcoat, who has a proven track record of gritty dramas, having helmed Lawless, The Road, and The Proposition.
The relatively-rookie Matt Cook penned the screenplay, which was included on the 2010 Black List — i.e. the annual list of Hollywood's hottest unproduced scripts, as chosen by film executives.
Seems like a lot more Hollywood heavyweights are privy to the project's promise now. This is gonna be one to watch, people!
