Social media is like a box of chocolates — you never know what you're gonna get — and yesterday's treat (February 6) was a photo of Tom Hanks reuniting with Mykelti Williamson and Gary Sinise, two of his co-stars from the 1994 Best Picture winner, Forrest Gump.

"Hadn't seen these old friends for too long," Tom wrote in the WhoSay caption. (Check out the photo below!)

The trio of actors met up to attend Hollywood Salutes Heroes, an event benefiting the Gary Sinise Foundation, an organization that aids current and former members of the armed forces and first responders.

In Forrest Gump, Tom starred as the titular character — a simple-minded yet athletic man who, over the course of his fateful life, finds himself present at some of America's most defining moments of the 20th century. Gary Sinise played Forrest's grouchy Vietnam War platoon leader-turned-friend; and Mykelti played his army friend, whose shrimp expertise gave rise to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company (which has since become a real-life restaurant chain).

The film — based on a novel by Winston Groom, written by Eric Roth, and directed by Robert Zemeckis — also starred Sally Field as Forrest's mother, Robin Wright as his childhood friend and adult lover, and Haley Joel Osment as his son.

Forrest Gump earned $677 million worldwide and won six Academy Awards — including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. (Gary was also nominated for his role).

We love this reunion snapshot… even if it's giving us a hankerin' for shrimp!
