Thunder buddies might be for life — but apparently, romantic partners aren't. Ted 2 is about to start filming, and Mark Wahlberg will be reprising his role as the owner of the mischievous talking teddy bear. However, Mila Kunis won't be in the film, and instead Amanda Seyfried will be. So why isn't Mila coming back?
Deadline reports that the female lead in Ted 2 will be played by Amanda, as Mila will only play a tiny role, if any at all. Mila played Lori in Ted, who marries Mark Wahlberg's character at the end of the first film. It will be interesting to see how the new film explains what happened to Mila's character.
But why isn't Mila coming back? Sources say Mila and Ted director Seth MacFarlane are still close, as she continues to voice Meg on Family Guy, but Seth just decided to switch things up creatively for the sequel. Amanda also has a starring role in this May's western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, which Seth MacFarlane directs and stars in. Mila next appears in this summer's Jupiter Ascending, opposite Channing Tatum.
Ted was a smash hit when it came out in summer of 2012, grossing a whopping $218 million in North America alone. That taken into account, you'd think that the film's producers wouldn't want to tinker with the formula of what worked the first time. Then again, when a movie has a sex-crazed teddy bear, perhaps that's really all you need.
How do you feel about Amanda replacing Mila? And do you plan to see Ted 2?
