Just weeks before X-Men: Days of Future Past is due to hit theaters, director Bryan Singer has been accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy in the 90s, according to The Wrap.

And if plaintiff Michael Egan’s allegations are correct, this could open up the lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday, to a much bigger case. Court documents that were filed say that Bryan was just one Hollywood exec in a “sordid sex ring” of adult males who used their power in the industry to take advantage of underage actors.

“[Bryan] manipulated his power, wealth, and position in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse and exploit the underage Plaintiff through the use of drugs, alcohol, threats, and inducements, which resulted in Plaintiff suffering catastrophic psychological and emotional injuries,” the court papers say.

The lawsuit states that Bryan flew Michael to Hawaii on more than one occasion, where he would “anally rape” him. Michael says this began in 1998 at a house in Encino, California called the M&C Estate, where the abusers would host parties where they’d wield their power in Hollywood over aspiring young actors in order to have sex with them.

Bryan’s lawyer, Martin Singer, says that the lawsuit is “completely without merit.”

“We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit,” Martin says. “It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan’s new movie is about to open in a few weeks.”

Meanwhile, Michael’s attorney, Jeff Herman, says that more lawsuits are on the way that will expose everyone involved in the sex ring.

“Hollywood has a problem with the sexual exploitation of children,” Jeff says. “This is the first of many cases I will be filing to give these victims a voice and to expose the issue.”
