Now here's music to our ears: Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld is joining the cast of Pitch Perfect 2, the 2015 sequel to 2012's uproarious a cappella comedy.
The sequel's producer and director Elizabeth Banks — who produced and starred in the original — tweeted the joyous news on April 30. "@HaileeSteinfeld, welcome to the Barden Bellas! Now lace up your dancing shoes, and get your tush down to Baton Rouge."
That means Hailee will join original stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Rebel Wilson as a member of the all-female a cappella troupe.
"It's official, and I'm so excited!" the 17-year-old star tweeted.
Elizabeth, for whom Pitch Perfect 2 is her directorial debut, gave Wetpaint Entertainment a tease of the sequel's plotline in February: "I think that what I can say is that the women — they'll all be seniors graduating from college this time."
Hailee first gained national fame and adoration at the young age of 13 — as well as a 2011 Oscar nomination — when she was cast in the Coen Brothers' 2010 western True Grit, playing a young girl determined to bring her father's killer to justice.
She has since starred in Romeo and Juliet, Ender's Game, and 3 Days to Kill. She had two films premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, and she has five films readying for release.
Sounds like a Perfect casting coup!
