Jennifer Garner might be losing sleep these days, considering the creepy husband her real-life hubby, Ben Affleck, plays in Gone Girl — the first trailer for which just hit the web.
In the highly anticipated film — based on Gillian Flynn's best-selling book — Ben plays Nick Dunne, a man whose wife, Amy, disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary.
The bereaved husband initially helps in the search, but his erratic behavior soon makes him a target of suspicion. (Case in point: He poses next to a poster of his missing wife for press photos and then, inexplicably, flashes a cheesy smile.)
We also see flashbacks of Nick and Amy's disintegrating relationship throughout the trailer. In one harrowing snippet, Nick and Amy yell at one another before he lunges at her.
The entire unnerving montage is set to the tune of a cover of Charles Aznavour's "She" by Psychedelic Furs' Richard Butler.
David Fincher — who most recently helmed The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo — directed the film, with Reese Witherspoon producing. The rest of the cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, and Patrick Fugit.
