It almost seems like these crazy rumors of a Beyoncé and Jay Z split were just leading up to the couple's big moment at the MTV VMAs! The Carter family had fans screaming with an ultra-cute moment at the traditionally shock-happy awards show as Bey accepted her Vanguard Award... but let's look at what it took to get to this amazing moment. Because seriously, for a minute there we were getting multiple reports trouble in Bey and Jay's paradise on the daily!

We've thrown together everything we heard about a rumored split from the infamous Met Gala elevator fight between Jay and Solange up until this brain-explodingly cute awards show — both supporting and shooting down those rumors that cannot be true. The VMAs have spoken, y'all.

Bust out your emergency bonbon stash — we know it's in your freezer — and read on. Is their "Love on Top," or is everything Jay Z owns destined for a “box to the left"? Lucky for you, we're keeping score.

TMZ: Solange Attacks Jay Z in an Elevator. We first heard about the elevator incident from TMZ, after they purchased the now-familiar footage from a hotel employee for a cool quarter mil (he's now fired). While in the initial frenzy of the incident, a ton of theories surfaced — some said Solange was unstable and/or drunk, for example — fans couldn't help but wonder if this was a sign of marital trouble. And so it begins. Split: 1. Stay together: 0

BlindGossip.com: Things Have Gotten Violent Between Jay and Bey Before. Well, here's one that you should definitely take with maybe like, a whole shaker of salt, but a source told BlindGossip.com on May 13 that Solange doesn't have to be there for things to get intense between the Carters. The anonymous tipper said that before her 2013 Super Bowl performance, Bey seemed distracted by her cell phone, which prompted hell to break loose.

“He became scary that she wasn’t giving him her full attention, and he grabbed the mobile device out of her hands,” said the supposed witness. “He discovered that she was texting another man and started going through all her texts. His voice started out low, and he was swearing, ‘You motherf—ing b—tch!’”

Jay and Bey never responded to this one — probably because it never really left random blind-item status. Split: 1.5. Stay Together: 0.

Photos: Where's Beyoncé's Wedding Tattoo? Amid all the elevator drama, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Beyoncé's wedding tattoo — she and Jay both have the numeral "IV" on their wedding band fingers — is a lot more not-there than it was a year ago. Photos from a May 2 basketball game show Beyoncé's finger as mostly bare!

Finger tats don't have the best longevity, so it's possible it had faded a little, but the timing is not great. Split: 2.5. Stay together: 0.

E! News: The Elevator Fight Was Over Rachel Roy. May 15, over a week after Solange and Jay Z's confrontation, a source came to E! News with a possible explanation — that it all started with fashion designer Rachel Roy getting a little too flirty with Jay.

"Beyoncé approached Rachel to let her know the behavior was disrespectful and she wanted her out of their lives for good," the source dished. "Solange came over to have her sister's back, and things got heated with her and Rachel. Jay said some disrespectful things to Beyoncé and Solange as the confrontation was going down. That's why all hell broke loose in the elevator and why Beyoncé just stood back and let Solange hit Jay."

It's still some anonymous source, but yikes.  Love is a big, stupid lie: 3.5. Love is not a big, stupid lie: 0.

Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Solange: "We Have Moved Forward as a United Family." With the world a-buzzing over the elevator fight, Bey, Jay, and Solange released a joint statement saying, “At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different.” Well-said. Split: 3.5. True love does exist: 1

Star: Beyoncé Will Side With Jay Z and Not Solange in the Future. The tab reports keep rolling in — including a May 16 one from Star, with a source claiming Bey warned she'll side with Jay Z for any future fights between her husband and sister. It's not a happy rumor, but it's still one that sides on Team Not Divorce. Split: 3.5. Stay together: 2.

The Knowles and Carters: New Orleans Vacation Time! May 17, Bey, Jay, Solange, and mama Tina Knowles all congregated in New Orleans to spend some quality family time — and show the world that they'd put the elevator incident behind them. The first photo posted? Asisterly snap of Beyoncé and Solange in a sweet side-hug. Split: 3.5. Keepin' the family together: 3.

Life & Style: Bey and Jay Headed For $1 Billion Divorce! On May 22, in one of the first concrete divorce stories to hit the gossip rags, a source told L&S that there's some serious trouble brewin' for the Carters. “To the public, Beyoncé and Jay Z appear to have it all. But behind closed doors, they’re not as happy as people think they are,” said a source claiming to be close to the couple. “[Jay Z] just sort of shrugs it off, though, saying, ‘Nothing is forever.”

Welp, if that source was close to the couple, we're guessing they aren't anymore. Still, the story set the stage for a ton of the rumors to come — including cheating allegations. Split: 4.5. Stay together: 3.

In Touch: Solange Is Writing a Tell-All That Will Cover How Bad Jay Z Supposedly Sucks. According to one of In Touch's sources in a May 27 story, Jay Z is a philanderer, and Solange is not gonna take it anymore. The source says Solange is sick of her big sis looking the other way from Jay's indiscretions, and was threatening to expose him. That seems like not a great way to look out for your sister — but after all, this is just a rumor. Everything we knew about love is a lie: 5.5. Happily ever after: 3.

Bey and Jay: Date Night! After being the subject of a whole grip of divorce rumors, Bey and Jay had a sweet-looking date night in NYC — probably a good idea anyway, with their On the Run tour kicking off in a few weeks. We're not sure how public the date would've been if it weren't for having rumors to quash, but they looked great and seemed super-happy. Split: 5.5. Date nights til the "End of Time": 4.

In Touch and Others: Jay Z Is Having an Affair With Princesses: Long Island Star Casey Cohen. One of the first cheating rumors to surface after the elevator incident, hitting the tabs in early June, was that Jay was seeing reality star Casey Cohen on the side. But, as Perez Hilton touted in their headline… "The World Collectively Scoffs." Split: 6. Stay together: 4.

Casey Cohen's Lawyer: Reports Are "A Foul and Phony Mistress-Rumor," Please Stop. Amid Jay Z affair rumors, Casey smartly lawyered up, and quickly issued a cease-and-desist letter and demanding all inflammatory posts to be taken down — with a public apology to Casey, Jay, and Beyoncé. What a boss. Split: 6. Stay together: 5.

Bey and Jay: Check Out Our Wedding! During a mashed-up version of "Forever Young" and "Halo," Beyoncé and Jay Z showed fans footage of their wedding during their June 25 tour kickoff in Miami. Too cute! Split: 6. Stay together: 6.

Media Take Out: Jay Z Having Decade-Long Affair With Mya, Paying All Her Bills. MTO referenced a blind item on June 22 — then picked up by Page Six — from some so-called Hollywood entertainment lawyer claiming that Jay Z has been seeing a mistress on the side — and that lady is R&B singer Mya. The source claims  that she "lives off the generosity of Jay Z and a couple of other guys." The source is… less than reputable. Split: 6.5. Stay together: 6.

Beyoncé: "Been Ridin' With You For Six 12 Years." So that blind item was, for the most part, taken with a grain of salt and an eyeroll — until Bey and Jay's tour stop in Cincinnati on June 28, when she sang her 2006 jam "Resentment" wearing a wedding dress. Instead of the standard lyrics for the anthem to a cheating man, "Been ridin' with you for six years," she changed "six" to the duration of she and Jay's relationship: "12 years." Considering they were onstage at a packed venue, that would be some A+ level passive aggression if Bey intended to call Jay out for cheating, which isn't really her style. Split: 7. Stay together: 6.

Mya: "I Play Second to No One [and] I Pay My Own Bills." Mya refuted the rumor of a Jay Z affair herself, replying to a fan on Instagram on July 3. "Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts … That's the 'media' for you — especially today" she said. "I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself and marriage way too much for that nonsense."

Meanwhile, Bey posted more adorable photos of she, Jay, and Blue to her website. A+++ shooting down distressing rumors. Split: 7. Stay together: 7.

Solange: My Family and I Are All Good. Solange opened up for Lucky Magazine's August 2014 issue, in an interview that popped online on July 7, about her family life — and according to her, everything is fine. "What's important is that my family and I are all good," Solange said of the now-infamous elevator fight. "What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that."

This could go either way, theoretically, but we're taking this to mean that Jay Z is part of the family. Split: 7. Stay together: 8.

Bey and Jay: Whispering Sweet Nothings. Fans were freaking delighted when Jay showed some serious PDA to his wifey onstage at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Stadium, whispering something in her ear before kissing her neck.

During their stop at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on July 11, the power-couple not only got super hot 'n' heavy with PDA — they showed footage from their wedding to fans again! They ended the concert by walking offstage arm in arm. Split: 7. Stay together: 9.

Mirror: Bey and Jay Get Online Marriage Counseling. Ugh, isn't it the worst when you fight with your hubby when you're busy on a bajillion-dollar music tour?! Good thing therapists can totally use Skype now. A source told the Mirror in a July 13 report that the pair were seeking a little internet marriage counseling. Now, you may say this is a sign that they're heading for a divorce, but we see a couple that's willing to work on their problems. This one's neutral. Split: 7. Stay together: 9.

Beyoncé: Check Out My Adorable Family Vaycay. July 14, Beyoncé posted some family photos that lend a little more insight into the life of the Carter family — including a couple of romantic-looking snaps of the On the Run tourmates spending some quality time. Split: 7. Stay together: 10.

Page Six: Beyoncé and Jay Z Want to "Split Without Divorcing." Some anonymous insider told Page Six in a July 20 story that the couple wants to "split without divorcing," because "this is a huge concert tour and they've already gotten most of the money from the promoters up front."

"There are no rings, if you haven't noticed," the source added, failing to acknowledge that these two don't usually wear their rings — hence why Bey's mysterious, disappearing tattoo is a little more conspicuous. Either way, this doesn't sound great. Uh-oh: 8. Uh-huh honey: 10.

Beyoncé: Here, Have This Adorable Family Photo. On July 22, Bey posted this photo of baby Blue Ivy swinging between her and what we're assuming is Jay. It's super-cute, although I mean, attention to Blue is something that hopefully won't diminish even if they do split. We're calling this one a wash — an adorable wash, but still, no points. Split: 8. Stay together: 10.

Page Six: Beyoncé Spotted Apartment Shopping — Without Jay Z! Man, who is this party-pooper source at the New York Post?! On July 28, Page Six ran a story that claimed Bey was scoping out a $21.5 million penthouse in Chelsea in early June… and looking real shifty while doing so. "She was very quiet, as if she was looking on the sly," said the source. Ugh, this doesn't look good — but maybe she's just looking for a place to kick it while she's in the city? Split: 9. Stay together: 10.

Beyoncé: My Favorite Hue Is Jay Z Blue.” Aww, how cute is this?!  On July 29, Beyoncé shared a photo of Blue with Jay on a beach with the simple caption, “My favorite hue is Jay Z Blue.” Her photos so rarely have captions, so we can't help but think Bey was purposely expressing happiness with her family. Split: 9. Stay together: 11.

Page Six: Lawyers "Are Here to Help Hash Things Out." Ugh, there goes Page Six again, crushing our dreams. Bey, Jay, concert promoter Live Nation, HBO and at least four lawyers attended an "emergency meeting" to discuss the couple’s status, according to an August 2 report.

Their source adds, “They’re not just staying in different hotel rooms, but they have booked separate hotels, and they arrive separately to each show." We refuse to accept this. Split: 10. Stay together: 11.

Beyoncé: "My Man Made Me Feel So Goddamn Fine." Bey dismissed elevator gossip and divorce rumors in one fell swoop in a new remix for Flawless. Late August 2, she and Nicki Minaj released the track, featuring Bey shutting down chatter about infamous elevator fight ("Of course sometimes s—t goes down when there's a billion dollars on an elevator") and reiterates the line from the original that gushes about her family — yes, including Jay. That's "Mama taught me good home training, my daddy taught me how to love my haters, my sister told me I should speak my mind, my man made me feel so goddamn fine," in case you forgot. Well, we know we're bowing down… Split: 10. Stay together: 12.

Radar Online: Beyoncé Breaks Down During Performance of "Resentment." According to Radar Online, Beyoncé got overly emotional during a performance of her track “Resentment” during their On the Run stop in Pasadena August 3. A source tells the site that Bey "looked like she had been crying from the time the concert began … Her eyes were really glassy and red, and it looked like she was just going through the motions on stage.”

Despite this happening in a very public place, numerous concert reviews didn't seem to have the same interpretation of events… in fact, all the Los Angeles Times had to say about the song was, "For 'Resentment,' a relatively obscure cut from her B’Day album, Beyoncé dispensed with movement altogether, belting out the vintage-style soul number while seated in a chair." Only a .5 for your naysaying, Radar. Split: 10.5. Stay together: 12.

Harold House Moore: "They Seem Happy." It's easy to get caught up in what anonymous sources are saying, but when someone is willing to put their name on their words, we definitely take notice. Take, for example, Bey and Jay's friend, actor Harold House Moore. “I think they’re happy,” says the Single Ladies star said at a charity softball event August 3. “They both seem happy. We all have differences with our significant other but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world.”

Oh, one of their actual friends that has a name says they're cool? There's something we can get behind. Now, we're dying to know: What do the Obamas have to say about this? Split: 10.5. Stay together: 13.

Yes LIV Can: "Sorry Mrs. Carter." Some lady that claims Jay Z asked for her number one time released a song — a loose parody of Outkast's "Ms. Jackson" — on August 4, saying she doesn't want to fight with Bey, but to teach "young girls" how to act around her man. But for someone that doesn't wanna fight, she sure lets out some fighting words: "“Time to tell these young girls some real s—t. Time to tell them how you became a wife … Come on now? Surfboards? Monica Lewinsky? Why don’t you tell these girls how to be wise? Why don’t you tell these girls how to act around your husband?"

Um, what? No points. This is weird. Split: 10.5. Stay together: 13.

E!: Beyoncé Consulting Financial Advisors About Her Assets. According to an August 5 report from E! Online, Bey has been “taking meetings to discuss the future of her assets," since “combined [she and Jay] are very rapidly approaching the billion-dollar mark.” This means nothing. If we were close to having literally a billion dollars, we'd consult some financial advisors, too. Split: 10.5. Stay together: 13.

Us Weekly: Beyoncé and Jay Z Spending Nights "Separately" on Tour. Uh-oh! Another source (or maybe the same one?) claims that Page Six is right — Bey and Jay are basically estranged when they're not onstage. "They stayed separately in both New York and L.A. for several nights," the source tells Us Weekly in an August 6 report.

However, yet another source calls BS: "They are happy," says Us's second insider. "They have issues, like every other couple." It's a wash. One point each. Split: 11.5. Stay together: 14.

Beyoncé: "Best Tour of My Life!" An August 7 Instagram snap from Bey shows Blue Ivy wearing an On the Run tour jacket, holding a doll, and being carried by Jay Z, captioned, “Thank you, San Fran! Your city is beautiful. It was the perfect place to complete the best tour of my life!"

See that? "Best tour of my life." You know what's not a great tour experience? Being "On the Run" with a hubby you're on the outs with. Split: 11.5. Stay together: 15.

Credit: Instagram

Beyonce: Carter Pride. Beyonce looked thrilled to be wearing her family name while wearing a jersey — just a jersey — in an Instagram photo on August 9. Was she perhaps extra-stoked to be Jay Z's wife that day? Split: 11.5. Stay together: 16.

Jonathan Hay: Beyonce and Jay Z Faking Divorce to Drive Ticket Sales. In an August 10 report for The Sun, publicist Jonathan Hay posits that the pair are in full control of rumors about their divorce — and it's all to drive ticket sales for their On the Run tour. "They are driving interest for the tour," he tells the rag. "If you look at the timing for these stories, I don't think this is a coincidence."

It's not the best news, but it certainly seems to imply that their trip to splitsville is all a rouse. It seems to be just a theory, albeit based on professional opinion, but we'll take it! Split: 11.5. Stay together: 17.

E! News: Jay Z Is "Pulling Out All the Stops" to Save His Marriage. On the other hand, a source for E! says the marital issues are real — but Jay Z is doing everything he can to make things right. "There has been talk of divorce and it's been really tense at times on the tour," they say. "Beyoncé has been leaning on her mom and sister a lot since they are so close. Jay wants everything to work out and is trying to convince Beyoncé how much he does not want a divorce.”

So what are those stops? Classics: “flowers, constant texts, and telling her he loves her." We believe in you, Jay! Split: 11.5. Stay together: 18.

Us Weekly: Beyoncé "Is Done" With Jay-Z After Paris Shows. Ugh. Sources for Us Weekly are back at it with more Jay and Bey rumors — this time, that Beyoncé has an escape plan in place for after the pair complete their On the Run tour stop in Paris. We sure hope not! They look so cute in Paris together. Split: 12.5. Stay together: 18.

Beyoncé: Go Kart Fun With the Fam. As she is wont to do — especially with swirling divorce rumors — Beyoncé posted a whole new batch of family photos on her website August 15, and they're so precious. While we were busy reading that Us report, the Carters, including little Blue, took an outing to a go kart track together. The whole thing kind of smacks of "look how happy we are," though, and while we'dlove to add more points to the "happy family" column, this doesn't add a whole lot more than previous photos of family outings have. Split: 12.5. Stay together: 18.

Us Weekly: Beyonce Went to Gwyneth Paltrow for Divorce Advice. We kind of wondered if Bey went to Gwyneth's house to discuss dude-stuff earlier this month, so it's no surprise that one of Us's negative-nancies is claiming that's what happened. What's next: Jay Z and Jennifer Lawrence hitting the vineyard together? Ugh. Split: 13. Stay together: 19.

Tina Knowles: "Everything's Perfect." After getting confronted by a paparazzo August 20, Beyonce's mom Tina laid it all out: "Haters gonna be haters, and there's nothing we can do about that."

"I just don't even read the bull, you know," she added. You tell 'em, Tina! Split: 12.5. Stay together: 19.

Beyonce to Jay Z: "My Beloved." Haters can move on over to the left, because the Carter family has spoken. We were already freaking out by how freaking adorable Blue looked at the MTV VMAs, but things were only about to get cuter, as Jay and Blue took to the stage to present Bey with her Vanguard Award. Jay called Bey the best performer in the world, Beyonce called Jay her "beloved," and we're pretty sure we heard Blue say "I love you, mommy." It's settled, folks. Split: 12.5. Stay together: A MILLION-BILLION.

Okay, so by our count, Queen Bey and Jay Z, aka Jayonce, aka Bey-Z (we really need to pick one for them, dudes), are still out there giving us a reason to believe in true love or whatever.

What do you think? Are they totally fine, or are they still heading for that $1 billion divorce? Weigh in below!
