Avril Lavigne is breaking away from her “boy-bashing and breakup” songs now that she’s a married woman, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to fully settle down. While she and husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, got engaged and married quickly, the “Here’s to Never Growing Up” singer is staying true to her lyrics and taking her time before parenthood.

When Wetpaint Entertainment asked Avril if she’d consider taking her little ones out on tour to juggle music and a growing family, she admitted, “I’m not even at that stage yet!” with a laugh.

Chatting with reporters at Finale in NYC for her self-titled fifth album release party on November 5, the pop-punk princess admits motherhood isn’t on her mind yet. “I still need to just have fun. I got a record coming out, a tour, and so… I’m not ready right now,” she explained. “I want to just focus on my music, but down the road, eventually.”

With that being said, she does have a number in mind: “I think one or two, but not right now,” she added.

The newlyweds may not be focused on babies, but they are certainly keeping the romance alive. “I just got roses sent to me like three days ago at my hotel and he wrote a poem and it was really sweet,” Avril revealed with a smile. “I didn’t know what to do — I almost cried.”

While Chad couldn’t be with her for the release party, she was recently with her man sidestage for 10 days, taking over a big part of their nightly schedule.

“When I’m out with them on tour, I can’t just sit around and do nothing, so I take over quick-change booth on the side of the stage,” she revealed. “Chad comes in and I help him change his shirt, and I’m like towel girl for Daniel, their dummer. He comes off stage and I’ve got his towel and his water. I pat the boys, like ‘Good job, good show.’”

Though she appreciates being home to cook, exercise, and write music with her husband, she admits it’s just fun and exciting to be with him, no matter how or where.

“After New York, I do L.A. and then Japan, and then I go meet the guys on tour,” she said with a smile, “and I’ll be back out on towel duty.”
