Keeping on trend with tonight's subdued theme at the American Music Awards on November 24, 2013, The Voice coach Christina Aguilera stunned fans when she took the stage for an understated and utterly heart-wrenching performance of her new hit "Say Something" with indie band A Great Big World. We almost can't believe this is the same woman who used to prance around in assless chaps and cornrows!

Though we can't stop gushing about Xtina's weight loss and makeover — er, makeunder — we'd be remiss if we failed to mention her flawless vocals. Taking her rightful place center stage in a floor-length black dress and braided updo, the 32-year-old pop diva harmonized perfectly with the group's lead singer Ian Axel, who worked the piano with passion and poise. Xtina's rich yet breathy tone offered just the right amount of strength and vulnerability — a side of Christina we haven't seen in a really long time.

According to inside sources, Christina was advised to "tone down" her look for Season 5 of The Voice. "Those close to her kindly suggested that she tone down the dramatic makeup and extensions and try a softer look," In Touch reported. After a brief hiatus from primetime TV during Season 4, she returned to her big red chair with way less eyeliner and lot more confidence.

If tonight's AMA performance is any indication, Christina is on the brink of a major music comeback — and we can't wait!
