Now that Ciara is tied up with her pregnancy and wedding plans with Future, it’s Ashanti’s time to shine! This could be the perfect opportunity for her fellow R&B crooner to step up her music game, and it seems like she’s already getting a move on it: the “Foolish” singer is releasing her first album in six years!

Titled Braveheart, the album will be the fifth studio release for Ashanti — but her first since 2008’s The Declaration, which disappointed in sales and chart performance. And though this upcoming project has seen months of delays so far, we finally have a release date: March 14, 2014!

We also got a peek at the newest album artwork today (at left), which we’re totally digging. Though there does seem to be a little photoshopping, the 33-year-old songstress’ eye makeup and hair game is on point! Plus, it’s promising that a Parental Advisory label is on the album cover, as this probably means she recruited some of her big name hip hop friends to collaborate on tracks. We already know she’s pulled in heavy hitters like Rick Ross and Busta Rhymes, and we’ve been promised even more!

If you’re wondering what Ashanti’s been up to since 2008, you might have to brush up on your TV viewing. Over the last few years, she’s turned her attention to acting, snagging roles in shows like Lifetime’s Army Wives. But we have to admit that we prefer our Ashanti on the radio over being on our primetime schedule.

Can’t wait to see what stops you pulled out for this album, girl!
