mtvU’s Woodie Awards are returning to Austin, Texas for another year of celebrating the music college students love.
The 2014 Woodie Awards Festival will take place during the 2014 SXSW Music Festival on March 13, kicking off a full day of live music. The network has yet to announce the line-up for this year’s festival, but seeing how everyone from The Killers (Breaking Woodie ‘04) to Muse (Performing Woodie ‘07) and newcomers Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Branching Out Woodie ‘13) have taken the Woodies stage by storm, we know it’s going to be epic. (We’re thinking this year belongs to Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons.) Last year's awards show was hosted by Tegan and Sara and Machine Gun Kelly, with girl group HAIM, Jake Bugg and Alt-J among the performers.
The night-long Woodie celebration begins at 3 p.m. CT on March 13 in downtown Austin's Red River and 1st Street, with five hours of performances leading up to the Woodie Awards at 8 p.m. CT. And the best part? Entrance into the 2014 mtvU Woodie Awards and Festival is free, with an online RSVP available at a later date. (We’ll keep you updated with more information leading up to the Woodies.)
But if you’re not in Austin for the big event, don’t worry! A 30-minute special highlighting the 10th annual Woodie Awards — 2014 mtvU Woodie Awards Special — will air on MTV and mtvU in primetime on Sunday, March 16, at 8 p.m. ET.
