You remember The Hat, right? You know, the crumpled, Vivienne Westwood “Mountain” cap that musical-jack-of-all-trades Pharrell Williams wore to the 2014 Grammy Awards on January 26? And if you didn’t see it during the actual show, it’s likely you saw it somewhere else — like, on every social media platform in the days that followed. Heck, even the Twitter account for Arby’s poked fun at the unique topper during the telecast.

Now that all the hoopla has calmed down a bit, Pharrell is giving a lucky (and very generous) bidder the opportunity to call this “piece of pop culture history” their own — for a price. So how much is the hat going to cost? Since posting the item as part of an eBay charity auction on Feb. 20, the cost of the hat has risen to $14,500 (so far). The auction is set to close on Sunday, March 2.

As explained in the eBay description, all proceeds from the hat’s sale will benefit the From One Hand To AnOTHER. The charity, which Pharrell founded in 2008, works to provide youth with the tools and resources to meet their unique potential and empower them to nurture curiosity by learning through new technologies, arts, media and motivation.

An inexpensive accessory it is not. But an easy conversation starter – and an act of goodwill sure to make a difference – it just might be.

How much would you pay for Pharrell's hat? Sound off in the comments!
