Beyonce’s younger sister is far wiser than her 27 years.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Solange Knowles discusses how much perspective she gained after marrying and ultimately divorcing her high school sweetheart, Daniel Smith.

“I was lucky with Julez,” Solange says of her son in the interview. “I was completely lost when [Daniel and I] moved to Idaho, out in the country, and I devoted everything to him.” Now, we can’t exactly see Solange settling down in the country, but we give her credit for trying to make it work. She eventually filed for divorce in 2006 and relocated to L.A. with Julez, where she continued recording her music.

“In a lot of ways, emotionally and mentally, I feel far older than 27,” she continues. “Just going through a marriage and a divorce — which I essentially did by 21 — will give you an insane amount of perspective on life.”

Luckily, Solange and her ex-husband remain on good terms — she even went on to say how well the two of them co-parent. Seems very familiar to another celebrity breakup we know about...

“I’m able to say, ‘I need to finish this album, can you step up and take care of the boy?’ “ she says. If only all breakups ended this nicely.
