These guys may have 99 problems, but a check ain’t one.
Forbes always updates us on the richest stars of film, TV and music, and they recently compiled a list of the five wealthiest hip-hop artists of 2014. They looked at past earnings, the value of current holdings, and talked to various industry players.
The man at the top is way at the top — Sean "Diddy" Combs, with a net worth of $700 million. That’s actually an increase of $120 million over last year. It’s all about the benjamins!
Forbes said Diddy’s coin boost came largely from the addition of Revolt TV. As they put it, “Diddy keeps his crown yet another year, pushing ever closer to the billion-dollar mark thanks mostly to non-musical ventures. His newly-launched Revolt TV provides him with a majority equity stake that could one day make him hip-hop’s first billionaire.” Maybe next year he’ll hit that 10-figure mark.
Here’s Forbes’s full top five richest hip-hop stars:
1. Sean "Diddy" Combs ($700 million)
2. Andre "Dr. Dre" Young ($550 million)
3. Shawn "Jay Z" Carter ($520 million)
4. Bryan "Birdman" Williams ($160 million)
5. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson ($140 million)
Are you feeling inadequate or in awe, after looking at all those numbers? The rest of us picked the wrong fields! Any surprises to you, in the top five, or is that basically what you figured they made and in that order?
