5 Things You Didn't Know About Sean Paul (VIDEO)

It may be hard to believe, but it's been a decade or so since Sean Paul first raised the "Temperature" of dance halls with hits like "Get Busy," "Gimme the Light," and "Like Glue."

Still, we bet you'll still be surprised by the five fun facts about the reggae star provided by the video above.

For example, the 41-year-old's full name is Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques — now that's a mouthful! He was born on January 9, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica. His father's Jewish family emigrated from Portugal, and his mother is of English and Chinese Jamaican descent.

Sean played water polo for eight years, from the time he was 13 to when he was 21, quitting the sport to focus on his music. He competed on the national water polo team, as did his father and grandmother. His mother, meanwhile, was a backstroke swimmer.

Before making it big as a musician, Sean worked as a chef and a bank teller. He also studied commerce at Jamaica's University of Technology, with the idea that he'd go into the hotel business.
