No more Danity insanity. Danity Kane has officially disbanded after an alleged physical altercation in the studio on August 4.
In a letter to fans, Aubrey O'Day and Shannon Bex announce the girl group's breakup and claims that a "group member" punched Aubrey in the back of the head.
Both Aubrey and Shannon are circumspect about who got violent, but the only other "group member" left — since D. Woods and Aundrea Fimbres had already departed the quintet — is the alleged attacker, Dawn Richard.
"During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate," Aubrey writes. "To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me. This is the same information I provided to the police, and witnesses also corroborated this account of the incident."
The two singers apologize hand over foot to the fans who have supported them since they reunited last September — and say that they were nearly done with their comeback album:
"We lived on calls, traded endless e-mails, and sat in meeting after meeting to bring together an amazing team of producers, agents, directors, and styling teams with no manager in place. We were at the finish line. We wish, more than anything, that our time, our team's time, and most importantly your time as fans, was not taken for granted and carelessly disregarded."
