Miley Cyrus may have called Ed Sheeran a nasty name, but he's taking pal Taylor Swift's advice and shaking it off…
Sharp-eyed views of the MTV Video Music Awards on August 24 witnessed Miley mouthing something that looks an awful lot like the word "a—hole" as he worked his way up to the stage to accept Best Male Video of the Year for his song "Sing."
She wasn't mic'd, so there's no way to say definitively what words came out of her mouth, but we're guessing she wasn't saying "Adore You" — especially as she conspicuously chose not to applaud his victory.
The red-headed singer-songwriter, meanwhile, either didn't hear her comment or didn't react.
Now, Ed is doing his best to dispel the drama in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, implying that Miley is indifferent to him and that he's not surprised she didn't reach out for a high-five like a nearby Scooter Braun did.
“Well, I don't know why people were expecting that [high-five]. I've never met her," the 23-year-old says. "There was a high-five between me and Scooter [Braun] because I know him, and that was the only high-five. I don't know what people were expecting."
Miley might have reason to bear a grudge, though. Despite telling Ryan how much he respects her, Ed did criticize her twerking antics to the Daily Mirror in September (per Daily Mail), saying that it's a stripper move and he wouldn't want a daughter of his doing such a thing.
