If you weren’t already aware that the seventh and final season of True Blood begins this Sunday, June 22, then the cover of the June 27 issue of Entertainment Weekly featuring Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) and a naked Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) on the cover is bound to get your attention.
Said cover shows Stephen’s Bill inside a hollow wooden coffin with his vamp fangs out. He’s got one arm around Anna’s Sookie, who is in her birthday suit but shielded by some strategically placed cover text.
And as if the cover weren’t enticing enough, the real-life couple also sat down for interview in which they reflect on the final season of the HBO drama and how it’s changed their lives.
Anna explained, “Because it has lasted seven years and because of the relationships, not just between us but the way they all evolved as a family, it’s been extraordinary to have that experience that is completely life-changing in all of the best possible ways — and with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. We will always have this.”
Indeed the couple will always have the show to look back on and thank for their relationship, but that doesn’t mean the seven-season run has been without its awkward moments. For example, Stephen directed the Season 7 premiere which just so happens to have a love scene with Anna and Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello).
But, surprisingly, Stephen is a total pro even when it comes to directing his wife’s sex scenes with another man. “There are moments where I’ll be watching on a monitor [and say], ‘Oh, Joe, just move your hand up towards Anna’s breast. Good. And can you move your right thumb just a little bit towards her nipple? Great,’” Stephen notes. “And then I’ll go, ‘Babe, babe, enjoy it.’ I’m certainly talking to her as ‘babe.’ ‘Darling, go for it. Yeah, feel the nipple.’”
Ha! Props to Stephen for his expert directing skills — talk about a true professional.
