If MTV's pick for its Best Artist of 2013 comes as a shock to you, you haven't been paying attention!
The network announced in a press release today that its Music and News teams have picked Miley Cyrus for the lofty title based on its music discovery site, Artists.MTV.com, on which Miley's profile was the most-visited page of the year.
Additionally, her audacious "We Can't Stop/Blurred Lines" performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards with Robin Thicke was the network's most-watched video.
The 21-year-old pop star cemented her place in the 2013 zeitgeist with two hit songs (with accompanying hit music videos — "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" — from her #1 album Bangerz; her ballsy performance at the MTV Europe Music Awards; her riotous Saturday Night Live hosting gig; and her MTV documentary Miley: The Movement.
