Fortunately for Nashville fans, the ABC show was picked up for a second season. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the country music drama will return sans T Bone Burnett, who oversaw all the music for the show.
In his role as executive music producer, he had the daunting task of creating the more than 100 original recordings, as well as producing or co-producing dozens of original songs that were featured on the show by Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere.
T-Bone, who is married to the show’s creator, Callie Khouri, was too busy to make it work for a second season, as he is producing Elton John’s album and working on an upcoming Llewyn Davis film. As his manager said in a statement, "His slate of other film, television, and recording projects would have made it impossible for him to return for a second season,” pointing out that he was only slated to do one season.
Buddy Miller, who was second to T Bone during the first season, will fill the music producer’s giant shoes.
As wife Callie said to The Hollywood Reporter, "We're going to do Nashville's second season with Buddy and some of the other producers that we worked with. T Bone set the gold standard for the show. His commitment to the quality of the music, the sound for the characters, and all of that was something that we were very lucky to get him for."
The music was crucial to Season 1, so hopefully Buddy Miller learned a lot during T Bone’s run...
