We practically jumped for joy when Rayna (Connie Britton) and Deacon (Charles Esten) rekindled their relationship after fighting off their feelings for practically the entire season. But the romance was short lived, as Nashville Season 1 ended with Deacon and Rayna fighting in the car and subsequently getting into a brutal accident.
So what exactly will become of their relationship when Nashville returns for Season 2? According to TVLine, Rayna is safe and sound following the crash, but her relationship with Deacon might not fare as well.
As it turns out, her near-death experience does wonders for her record sales, and Rayna’s album flies up the charts. Months after the accident, her career continues to soar, which also catches the attention of Jeff, the newest executive at Rayna’s label. Luckily for her, Jeff happens to be handsome and astoundingly charming to boot.
So where does that leave Rayna and Deacon? When we last left off, Deacon was fuming with anger after learning he’s Maddie's biological father, accusing Rayna of lying to him for years. After falling off the wagon, we predict Deacon will be heading back to rehab and cooling things down with Rayna. This leaves ample opportunity for Rayna and jeff to “Mix in a little pleasure with their business,” as TVLine’s Michael Ausiello puts it.
Are you excited for Rayna to get a new man in her life, or are you rooting for her to work things out with Deacon?
